Oboe!
Oboe is just one of the many nicknames of the little boy who is changing my life, Owen Matthew Roberts. Other nicknames we have for Owen include Oboe the Hobo, Buster Brown (and its derivative, Fusster Brown), Kid, Mr. Curly Legs, Roly Poly Owy, Chunk-Chunk, and Mr. Chubs. Aaron came up with most of those. I think many dads have a gift for nicknaming. Aaron is no exception.
One of the changes that Owen has brought about in my life is that it's tough to find time to blog. (Is that a resounding "NO DUH!" I hear from the mouths of the parents who read this?) Anyhoozy, I love blogging and I don't want to give it up. So watch out, some weird posts from my weird mind are comin' your way.
I don't plan on all of my posts from here on out being about parenting, but there will inevitably be a few. As I write about my experience with motherhood, I want to keep it real, so I guess I will start that now. At the moment Owen is sleeping on my lap. The ceiling fan is on and freezing me out, and I don't have a blanket at arm's length, but I don't want get up because A MOMENT'S PEACE THANK YOU GOD! I love being a mom, but it is crazy sauce. It is unlike anything I have ever experienced (I never even got to take care of an egg, or a flour sack, or a freaky fake baby in high school). I did ocasionally babysit as a jr. higher, and I helped my mom with my four younger siblings, but I have found that having my own baby is a whole 'nother thing. Oh, the anxiety! The fatigue! The lack of makeup on my face! The wacky emotions that come with all of those things! It has been a TRIP, but a ridiculously worthwhile one. I'm crazy about this kid. He is huge. He looks like his daddy. His hands are amazing. He shrieks with happiness sometimes. His eyes get massive when he sees something new and interesting. He is sweet, and he is determined. His laugh is better than the best song I've ever heard. Man I'm sappy... Aaron is right, I'm gonna be one of those sobby moms. Owen, sorry in advance for all the times I'm going to embarass you with my mom-crying.
Well, he's waking up, so bye for now... :)

Word! Nothing compares to baby laughs!
my gosh love this post. I am saying a huge AMEN even after kid two. Being a parent is definitely not for the weak. I had no idea how challenging and rewarding it would be. Ha!!!! Owen is ADORABLE.
