The bun...

It is baking. It (or, more appropriately, he) now weighs about three and a half pounds. He is so big, but so tiny. My brain is a bit scattered to write in paragraph form, so I will give some updates on our little family bullet-point style...

- My belly button is starting to pop out. Aaron thinks this is the funniest thing in the world.
- I think the baby's most favoritest activity EVAR is to push his feet up behind the right side of my ribcage and just keep pushing. It has caused me to not underestimate the discomfort that a 3.5 pound person can inflict.
- We've been saving up for a camcorder, and bought it yesterday. We brought it along for a crazed pregnant lady Del Taco run last night to make a video for the baby. Because, you know, ordering at Del Taco is a skill he's gonna need to learn really soon.
- I have been having too many Braxton Hicks contractions. As in, I really shouldn't be having more than four an hour, but sometimes I will have many more than that per hour over a span of two to three hours. This has been going on for a couple of months. According to my midwife and lots of other smart ladies, I need to stress less and drink more water to minimize my risk for an early delivery. I am doing those things, but I think the most effective strategy is to stare down at my stomach and remind the baby to STAY IN THERE until January 1st.
- Last night we enjoyed a really wonderful shower with our families and a few of our close friends. We were blessed by a lot of gifts, and just as importantly, a lot of emotional and spiritual support. You know what, Hillary Rodham Clinton? You were right, it does take a village.
- Aaron has been so loving with me throughout this weird, fun, and sometimes difficult journey of pregnancy. He has continued to be the great husband he has been since day one, and is now a great dad too. I am not able to count all the hugs, long talks about what I want to eat, stops at weird restrooms, compliments to my spherical figure, reassurances that I will be a good mom, and times he has helped me laugh and smile when I wanted to cry or punch something. The baby and I would like to give a major internet shout-out to the A-Rob.
- Oh, how I miss turkey and avocado sandwiches... I can't eat them because deli meat can be infected with listeria, a bacteria that babies in the womb can't deal with. The only way I can have deli turkey is to heat it to steaming first, which is nasty. Listeria is actually code for someone handling the deli meat at any point in its processing with POOPY FINGERS. Seriously, peeps? Is it really worth causing a pregnant lady sadness and withdrawals so you don't have to take 30 seconds to scrub your hands? WEAK.
- Best thing on the internet that I've discovered since being pregnant? Message boards debating circumcision. That's some entertaining stuff.
- I am pretty sure that the modern Thanksgiving meal was invented by a pregnant woman. "I'm looking forward to it" is a severe understatement.

On that note, happy Thanksgiving to all. May you have a great time with people you love. I'll sign back in soon with more Roberts family news.
