marinades, marriage, etc.
I do not even know where this post is going. Keep reading if you really have nothing better to do, or if you do have better things to do, but you don't feel like getting up from the computer or navigating away from this page. Yeah, that's pretty lazy of you, but we all do it.
Barbecued salmon on Friday for the fam - used a marinade of fresh lemon juice, garlic, and soy, which my brother reccomended. Tasty! If you have been reading this blog lately, please take note that I cooked, and give me a gold star. Thx.
I think at this point that I can make a cheesy analogy about how marriage can be like a marinade that gets better with time. Oops, I think I DID just make a cheesy analogy. Dang it. I am too lazy to delete it, so I will just let it stand. Anyway, Aaron and I are coming up on two years pretty soon. Hooray. I told him we should go to Six Flags for our anniversary but he totally rejected me and laughed at me in a way that meant "You are so not classy, wife." Whatevs, Aaron. You know you want to go on this:
Speaking of theme parks, Aaron and I have been getting some sweet bonuses at D-land lately: one of the Golden Horseshoe peeps gave Aaron a free cup of root beer; the tram lady held the tram for us so Aaron could run back to the car and get his inhaler (poor wheezy!); we got to stay on Splash Mountain and go twice. It seems like the Disney employees are feeling very benevolent now that the summer rush is over. Good for them (and for us).
I am NOT going back to school. At least, not for now. Once I got to the point where I needed to apply, and the possibility of landing on interior design as my career became very real, I realized, this would be a lot of fun, but it's not the thing I want to do most. It was hard to be that honest with myself, because the thing I really want to do scares me a lot, and I have been avoiding it for years and years. However, the fact that I am turning 25 next year scares me even more. So, no more avoidance. I want do vocal stuff very, very badly! Next step: find a good teacher who can whip me into shape!

Don't forget the 2 FREE CHURROS!
When does that ever happen?
I'm jealous of you two.
We have our annual passes but we don't get those cool freebies. Wait! Hold the phone. That's not true! (Stream of consciousness coming on...). Last year, we had our passes and of my wife's, stepson's and mine, only my wife's got used. Yeah, 12 whole months and neither my stepson nor I went to Disneyland. Crime. Anyway, I digress....
So my wifey calls the member service desk--or whatever they call it--and explains to them how stupid we are for wasting a whole year of not using our passes which were about to expire. D-Land--in their most gracious fashion--gave my stepson and I brand new passes for this year and all we had to do is renew my wife's. Cool, eh? Makes up for our blasted waste of money last year.
As for your "vocals," Amanda, if you feel God has called you and gifted you with this desire in your heart, let NO ONE stand in your way, especially yourself. Now if I would follow my own advice...but again, I digress. I really hope you pursue it. I'm doing my best to figure out my calling at 38 years plus. It's not easy. Better to do it at soon-to-be-25 than wait.
FYI: I just signed up on Facebook (great app): http://www.facebook.com/people/Joseph_Chavez/1067363879 and I'm also on LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/pub/2/131/470. We haven't yet met in person but I'm sure have been passing each other at church and now probably D-Land. ;-)
Blessings to you and Aaron. Oh yeah...one more thing (long post, sorry). Congrats on almost two years of marriage!!!!!!! Yee haw!!!
Thanks for the comments guys!
Joe, that is really awesome that Disneyland renewed your passes for free! That's just one more reason why I love that place.
